The historic Song Festival location will transform into the Festival Park during the 150th anniversary of this tradition, with concerts and performances on two stages, a modern design market, the Festival restaurant, a public viewing location for the large concerts, Festival studios for the media, launch parties for the latest books, as well as a meeting place and a venue for simply enjoying the Festival atmosphere.
The Festival Square will allow audiences to experience, free of charge, the vivid folklore day; the rhythms of the band marathon; the singing of vocal ensembles; the achievements of ethnic minority groups; the exciting performances of Iļģi, Skyforger and Rikši; a performance of Kārlis Lācis’ musical Pūt, vējiņi by students of the Riga Cathedral Choir School (which won the Audience Prize at the 2022 Great Music Awards); and other special activities which will honour the location where the spirit of the Song Festival was forged across more than a century!
