130 Latvian and diaspora folklore groups, ethnographic ensembles, ethnic minority folklore groups, and five narrators will fill Vērmanes Park and Esplanāde with sound, giving audiences the chance to get involved, experience the diversity of tradition and explore the characteristics of regional folklore.
The day will be like a colourful scarf woven through with different threads: games reflecting the patterns of our lives; the best that each region has to offer; scenes about weddings and the events that surround them; a flash mob singalong by the Freedom Monument; games; flower crown competitions; quadrille lessons; and singing and dancing in the evening.
